For immediate release – Cycling Without Age Society
Inaugural ride Monday April 1st 1:30PM at Sidney All Care Residence, 2269 Mills Road, Sidney, BC
Cycling Without Age Society hits the road in Sidney!
Wind in their hair; smiles on their faces….the passengers of Cycling Without Age are enjoying their free jaunt around Sidney in the Society’s special trishaw. After two years of preparation and ongoing fundraising, a local group of volunteers is offering escorted bike rides at no cost to those less-able residents of care residences and homes in the region. “Pilots, as the drivers of the rickshaw-like bikes, take up to two people on a one-hour tour to local sites, nearby beaches and downtown areas, while engaging the passengers in conversation along the way. A true form of active citizenship! The non-profit society provides its free services to residents of the community, directly from their home wherever they are in Sidney. The ride lasts about an hour, as the passenger prefers, along the quiet streets at a comfortable slow speed, stopping to take in the view or chat with bystanders. The Cycling Without Age Society provides its services at no cost to Sidney residents as a result of donations, sponsorships and volunteers. Our grateful thanks to the in-kind contributions of All Care Canada (Sidney All Care Residence), Russ Hays Cycle and the grants given by the Town of Sidney, the Sidney Lions and Sidney Waterfront Inn & Suites. Your support is most welcome!
